  Chania is the largest city and capital of the Chania Prefecture. Located on the northwestern side of the island, this is where you’ll find a myriad of historical and cultural attractions. With its charming old town, Chania is an ideal destination for first-time visitors to Crete. The gorge is located in the district of Selino, below Prodromi village, south of Chania and its entrance is accessed by a dirt road that runs from the village (to the south). The very small canyon is quite green and is divided into two different sections.

Chania (alternative spellings Hania, Xania), with its backdrop of the wonderful White Mountains (Lefka Ori), is a stunning town where modern, Venetian and Turkish traditional architecture are blended together making it a fabulous place to visit.
